The key to good classroom management in a one to one school is acknowledging that there is no "magic button" technology solution that will ensure laptops are used appropriately. Traditional discipline is only one part of the puzzle. Effective instruction is even more important.


Traditional Discipline:
  • Good classroom management is the same in all settings
  • Provide for special situations
  • Empower students/involve students in rule setting
  • Be proactive. Good plan avoids many problems
  • Consistent strategy with levels of consequences
    • missing equipment
    • non collaborative worker
    • specific situations
  • **Don't remove the tool, modify the behavior**



Design Appropriate Strategies:
  • Have a plan to start class promptly with laptops ready
  • Have a backup plan at all times
  • Close computers when they are not being used
  • Move around the room to monitor students
  • Assess their work frequently
